A $6B, ten-hospital integrated hospital and healthcare delivery system seeks an Assistant Vice President, Financial Reporting & Budget Operations for their nationally recognized academic medical center.  This highly visible position reports to the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer and oversees a small team of professional staff.  This is a highly profitable, 600+ licensed bed hospital with several nationally recognized clinical centers of excellence.  A new state-of-the-art Medical Surgical Pavilion is currently under construction.

Major responsibilities for the Assistant Vice President, Financial Reporting & Budget Operations include:

  • Develops, monitors, and maintains the annual operating and capital budgets by way of analyzing the current financial data, forecasting future trends, anticipating organizational and external reimbursement changes, and recommending alternative financial strategies to ensure the continued financial robust growth of the hospital and affiliated entities
  • Ensures the accurate and timely development and issuance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and system financial reporting policies and standards
  • Provides proactive leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of the short and long-term strategic financial objectives of the hospital
  • Works collaboratively with corporate financial executives on system-wide reporting, compliance, revenue cycle, and budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Operates as strategic business partner to department leadership across the enterprise
  • Contributes to the management and enhancement on all revenue cycle activities and initiatives
  • Develops and implements hospital systems to monitor and improve financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, data analysis, and reimbursement
  • Performs hands-on human resource oversight of department staff including hiring, mentoring, and performance improvement
  • Assumes other general oversight duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the Assistant Vice President, Financial Reporting, & Budget Operations position

Requirements:

Requirements for this position include 6+ years of hands-on healthcare finance and accounting experience.  Prior financial and accounting experience in an academic or tertiary care hospital is highly desired.  Experience in public accounting will also be considered.  Hands-on experience in financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, financial compliance reporting, and decision support systems is required.  This position requires a high energy, committed financial professional who thrives in a team-oriented, “results-driven”, demanding, complex healthcare organization.  This highly visible position requires an individual who has the confidence and leadership skills to successfully work with a wide spectrum of hospital administrators, clinicians, and corporate executives.  Education requirements include a B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance; an MBA is a plus; a CPA is preferred but not required.

A $6B, ten-hospital integrated hospital and healthcare delivery system seeks an Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning & New Business Ventures for their nationally recognized academic medical center.  This highly visible position reports to the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer.  This is a very profitable, 600+ licensed bed hospital with several nationally recognized clinical centers of excellence.  A new state-of-the-art Medical Surgical Pavilion is currently under construction.

Major responsibilities for the Assistant Vice President, Financial Reporting & Budget Operations include:

  • Develops, monitors, and enhances the hospital’s strategic planning and financial analysis process. Reviews and analyzes internal and external financial opportunities.  Recommends specific action to strengthen existing internal programs and clinical services.  Performs complex financial analyses and offers stakeholders recommendations on how to improve financial results.
  • Directs and conducts a wide variety of financial projects and activities at the request of the President and CFO including preparing objective market data analysis and financial due diligence on new opportunities.  Uses state-of-the-art statistical/data driven financial modelling tools to carry out these responsibilities.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots a wide variety of financial reporting systems. Recommends and implements appropriate corrective actions for service line programs. Provides financial direction and guidance to department heads, project, and support personnel.  Prepares and analyzes financial reports and information for internal and external presentations to groups including executive staff, physicians, and clinical program leaders.
  • Provides the long-range strategic plan for assigned departments and services by way of analysis, forecasting trends, anticipating organizational changes, and recommending alternative strategies to ensure continued success.
  • Acts as liaison for the hospital in various local, regional, and national professional organizations and committees.
  • Performs human resources management functions for the department to include: interviewing, hiring, mentoring, counseling, and conducting annual performance evaluations.

Requirements:

Requirements for this newly created position include 6+ years of hands-on healthcare finance and business development experience.  Prior financial experience in an academic or tertiary care hospital is highly desired.  Experience in public accounting or healthcare consulting will also be considered.  Hands-on experience doing due diligence analysis on healthcare acquisitions is required.  Current hands-on experience with decision support systems is a must.  This position requires a high energy, innovative, hands-on, outward thinking financial professional.  Ability to work in a complex, results-driven environment is a must.  This highly visible position requires an individual who has the personal confidence and leadership skills to successfully work with a wide spectrum of top-flight hospital administrators, clinicians, and corporate executives.  Education requirements include a B.S. degree in Business or Finance; an MBA/MHA is a plus.
